Spring Semester Grades
Exciting News! Some of you may have already noticed, but semester grades can now be viewed in ExplorEC by both students and school counselors. The vast majority of spring semester final grades are now available.
To make it easier to track student progress, a new “Grades” column has been added to your ExplorEC report. As a result of this update, grade spreadsheets will no longer be uploaded at the end of each semester.
This new feature allows for quicker access to grades, as they will now populate in ExplorEC within 24 hours of being entered into MaineStreet. You will no longer need to wait on our offices for grade information.
Please note: Concurrent enrollment course grades will not appear until the high school teacher has entered grades in ExplorEC for the faculty member to review and post in MaineStreet. These grades may not appear on the high school counselor report in ExplorEC until after the end of the high school academic year.
You can learn more about our grading and course retake policies here.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Jamie Whittemore at jamie.whittemore@maine.edu.
**Grades are only available in the portal for UMS courses at this time, but MCCS will be adding this feature at a future date.
Transcripts for Seniors
For students planning to attend colleges outside the University of Maine System, please remind them to send their official transcripts directly to the school they will be attending this fall.
Information and instructions for students can be found on our Transcript Information Page.
Reminder: Lifetime Credit Cap
Starting with the Class of 2027, qualified students may earn a lifetime total of 18 tuition-free credits. The annual maximum on tuition-free enrollment remains at 12 credits.
Exception: Students enrolled in designated early college career pathways through a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program and the Maine Community College System (MCCS) may earn up to 24 tuition-free credits through MCCS. This exception accounts for programs that include corequisite course requirements.
You can read the full DOE Priority Notice here.
More details can be found on our Tuition & Fees Page.
Course Application Reminders & Deadlines
All offices are currently accepting applications for summer and fall courses. Complete applications must be submitted at least one week prior to the course start date. The deadline for full-semester fall courses—both online and on-campus—is August 26.
For more details about deadlines and what constitutes a completed application, please visit our ExplorEC Portal Page.
Important Reminder:
Don’t wait until school starts in the fall to have students apply or approve course requests. Most fall semester courses in the UMS begin before high schools are back in session. Our deadlines are firm and courses fill quickly.
Approvals for Summer/Fall Courses during Summer Vacation
Course approvers: Taking time off this summer? Be sure to designate a colleague at your high school to approve student applications while you’re away.
New approvers must request access to ExplorEC using this link.

- College Application Support: Assistance with college applications, admissions counseling, and college visits
- Virtual Access Programs: Text-based college support and mentorship that students can access remotely
- College Success Coaching: Continued support through college to help students not just get to college, but graduate successfully

Please note: Concurrent enrollment course grades will not appear until the high school teacher has entered grades in ExplorEC for the faculty member to review and post in MaineStreet.
