14 — Known Cases of UMS students or employees in ME CDC Isolation

  • 9 UMaine: 3 new cases, 4 students released from isolation
    • 3 UMaine students isolating on campus
    • 6 UMaine students isolating off-campus
  • 1 UMF: an adjunct faculty member isolating in the Farmington area
  • 4 USM: 2 new cases
    • 3 USM students isolating on-campus
    • 1 USM student isolating off-campus 

There are no known cases at the other University of Maine System universities. 

The above Data reflects ACTIVE known cases identified through the UMS asymptomatic screening and other testing venues.  When an individual is released from an isolation order by the Maine CDC the active case number shared in the Together for Maine daily update is reduced to reflect that change.  UMS is reporting 14 known cases today, one case more than the 9/2/20 update

Note on Asymptomatic Positive Results:  The Asymptomatic Screening Dashboard is updated once daily at about 5 AM and does not currently reflect the 5 new cases (3 at UMaine and 2 at USM) identified above.  UMS has now identified 13 positive cases to date through its asymptomatic arrival screening.

Phase 2 Testing Underway:  The University of Maine System is now in Phase 2 of its arrival asymptomatic screening strategy — a planned re-test of all community members (out-of-state students, residence hall students, and special populations) tested in Phase 1.  Background on the UMS asymptomatic screening strategy can be found in this 8/24/20 press release.
