Description:

This badge is issued in recognition of learners’ demonstration of career advising skills, assisting their peers in developing resumes and cover letters. Learners develop technology and interpersonal skills to create resumes and cover letters tailored to specific jobs, format resumes to be reviewed by both humans and Applicant Tracking Systems, and apply S.M.A.R.T. goals to resume/cover letter development. In addition to a knowledge-based quiz, learners complete job shadowing and reverse job shadowing experience, during which they demonstrate:

  • active listening,
  • communication with students to identify skills and strengths,
  • diversity sensitivity,
  • providing positive feedback.

Who is eligible to register?

University of Southern Maine (USM) students employed as Peer Career Guides.

What is the cost to the learner?

No cost.

What is the delivery mode?

Hybrid. The badge criteria is met through employment, including on-the-job training, as a Peer Career Guide.
