Description:

The Career Prepared micro-credential recognizes and validates learners’ ongoing, active engagement in career development, workforce training, and application of relevant skills through the successful completion of the University of Maine System (UMS) Career Prepared pathway. Learners:

  • develop skills in career exploration and job search strategies.
  • use the results of self-assessments to develop a Career Action Plan that includes the articulation of skill development, career goals, and identification of values, interests, and transferable skills; take action and reflect on the attainment of their goals.
  • successfully complete at least one internship, employment opportunity, or other approved career-related experience and receive a positive performance appraisal from their work-based supervisor or another appropriate faculty/staff.
  • earn three micro-badges by meeting the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Competency standards:
    • UMS Career & Self-Development,
    • UMS Career Technology, and
