Preventive Controls

Description:

Learners who earn the University of Maine System (UMS) Preventive Controls micro-credential (Levels 1, 2, and 3) can develop, implement, manage, and meet reporting requirements for a Preventive Controls plan. Learners complete Segments 1 and 2 training toward Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) certification to meet U.S. Food and Drug Administration requirements and receive certification as a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) for the development and implementation of a food safety plan. Learners are assessed on knowledge and application of skills. At Level 3, learners must successfully complete an approved internship, field experience course, or work-based learning experience and provide documentation of positive feedback from their mentor, supervisor, or approved UMS faculty or staff.

Anyone is eligible to register.

What is the cost to the learner?

Level 1: $208
Level 2: $275 for Maine Businesses, $350 for Out-Of-State Businesses

Financial assistance is available for Maine residents and food businesses.

What is the delivery mode?

Level 1: online asynchronous
Level 2: in person via a one-day (8 hour) training
