One of our projects involved a collaborative student-led cookbook with co-created recipes called “A Taste of Two Worlds: Stories & Recipes from Greenland & Maine.” This semester-long project culminated in sharing recipes and culinary techniques, as well as stories, laughs, and memories, at Inuili Food College in Narsaq, Greenland, with a community dinner hosted by Greenlandic and American students and partners. The essence of this collaborative project honored and celebrated Indigenous food traditions from Greenland and Maine with modern versions of traditional recipes and stories written in Greenlandic, Passamaquoddy, and English. These recipes and stories were ultimately represented in “A Taste of Two Worlds.” The cookbook went on to achieve global recognition at the Gourmand Awards in Saudi Arabia, winning Best Cooking School Cookbook in the World (1st Place), Best University Press Book in the World (1st Place), and Best Arctic Book in the World (3rd Place).

An award celebration was held at the University of Southern Maine in January 2024 to celebrate the cookbook’s global recognition, which is pictured below.
