State-Wide Access to Advanced Placement (AP) Courses
AP4ME offers Maine high school students throughout the state the opportunity to take Advanced Placement (AP) courses completely online, regardless of where they live or their school’s ability to support AP courses.
Students must apply for and be approved by both parent/guardian and high school (HS) counselor to enroll in AP4ME courses via ExplorEC, the Early College portal to Maine’s Public Universities (External Link).
To view and apply for AP4ME classes in ExplorEC (External Lite) students should use the “Course Search at Maine’s Public Universities” page and apply the following dropdown menu filters:
2026/2027 AP4ME courses will be available for student applications on Friday, April 3, 2026.
- Select Term: Fall 2026
- Select Campus: University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI)
- Select Subject(s): (AP) Advanced Placement
The deadline for AP4ME course applications is Monday, August 24, 2026.
Student Eligibility
All Maine high school students are eligible to enroll in a maximum of 2 (two) AP4ME courses per academic year. Homeschool students registered with the Maine Department of Education may also participate in AP4ME classes.
Important Note
Students are not awarded University of Maine System credit as a result of AP4ME course participation. For students to receive future college credit via CollegeBoard, students must complete the AP Exam. AP4ME does not arrange exam dates or provide financial support for fees associated with AP exams.
