In 2009, the University of Maine System created the Small Campus Initiative (SCI) to provide Maine Economic Improvement Funds (MEIF) to the five smaller campuses of the University of Maine System. The Maine Maritime Academy is also eligible. Funds must be used in accordance with the Statutes that govern the Maine Economic Improvement Fund.In fiscal year (FY) 2027, the University of Maine System has allocated $600,000 to support the SCI proposal competition.
