What is the University of Maine System?

The University of Maine System is the state’s leader in higher education, providing affordable, world-class learning opportunities, investing in groundbreaking research, and driving Maine’s economy. Maine’s Public Universities are building talent, changing lives, and solving problems with new solutions—locally, nationally, and globally.

What is unified accreditation?

The University of Maine System was the first in the nation to accredit its institutions jointly by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). This encourages resource sharing, reduces internal competition, creates a more sustainable infrastructure, improves student access to courses and programs regardless of enrollment location, and allows the University of Maine System to better support the individual goals and missions of Maine’s Public Universities.
