The University of Maine System (UMS) consists of:

  • The University of Maine / University of Maine at Machias
  • The University of Maine at Augusta
  • The University of Maine at Farmington
  • The University of Maine at Fort Kent
  • The University of Maine at Presque Isle
  • The University of Southern Maine

No, Maine Direct Admit is not a required program. Each high school can decide whether students opt in or out of participation.

Maine Direct Admit aims to make higher education more accessible for Maine students. By providing a straightforward pathway from Maine high schools to our universities, we hope to inspire students who might not normally consider higher education as an option while streamlining the admission process with our partner high schools.

They agree to share the information outlined in the MOU between the high school or district and the University of Maine System and agree to receive communications about Maine Direct Admit.

A spreadsheet (template provided) is uploaded to a secure dropbox. Below is a sample of the information requested.

  • Name
  • Mailing and email address
  • High school cumulative GPA or other grade assessment (weighted and unweighted GPA, if available)
  • Expected graduation date
  • Notation of special diploma terms, if applicable

There is no strict deadline; however, some of our universities provide better merit aid to earlier applicants.

Most of our participating high schools send their list at the close of the students’ junior year; however, sending in the fall of their senior year is also an option. Submitting before December 1st ensures students meet early decision timelines.

Once your list is uploaded, it is shared with each university to process. Students should begin receiving offer letters within two to three weeks of submission.
