Two communities we serve.

Networkmaine is a unit of the University of Maine System, providing Maine’s research and education community with high-bandwidth, low-latency connectivity and the complementary services that help them deliver on their missions. That work runs on two tracks — one facing inward to the University System, one facing outward to the state.

For the University of Maine System community

We run networking for all seven universities and the Law School — from the data center to the Wi-Fi and the port on the wall. Most of the time it just works in the background. When you need something specific, start here.

For Maine’s research & education community

Beyond the University System, we operate the Maine Research and Education Network — the state’s research and education backbone — and connect K-12 schools and public libraries statewide through the Maine School and Library Network.

Always on

A Maine team, on call around the clock.

Our Network Operations Center in Orono watches the backbone 24/7, so the connections our campuses, schools, and libraries count on stay up. And when something needs a person, you reach one right here in Maine.

Connecting Maine, statewide.

Our reach goes well past the university campuses. Through the Maine Research and Education Network and the Maine School & Library Network, we carry the connectivity that Maine’s public institutions depend on every day.
