The above Data reflects ACTIVE known cases identified through the UMS asymptomatic screening and other testing venues.  When an individual is released from an isolation order by a public health agency the active case number shared in the Together for Maine daily update is reduced to reflect that change.  UMS is reporting 82 known cases today, thirteen cases fewer than the cases reported in the 12/3/20 update.

 

Asymptomatic Screening Update for Fall Safe Return

The Asymptomatic Screening Dashboard at Together.Maine.edu represents known results on all asymptomatic tests going back to July 22, 2020.  About 48 hours passes from the time a test sample is collected and when the results are known.  

 

UMS News

Thirteen UMS Students Remain in Quarantine or Isolation on Campus:  The University of Maine System continues to house and support thirteen students in isolation or quarantine spaces following the Thanksgiving-break transition to distance instruction.  Heading into the Thanksgiving holiday approximately fifty students were staying with the UMS universities to prevent infection from traveling home to their families and communities.  

 

Next Together for Maine Distribution on Friday, 12/11/20:  With the transition to distance instruction the Together for Maine briefing is transitioning to a weekly and as-needed publication schedule.  Maine’s public universities remain open and operational to serve students and the people of Maine.

 

The next planned distribution of the Together for Maine briefing will occur on December 11, 2020.  Daily updates will resume in January prior to the January 25, 2021 start of in-person instruction for the spring semester.

Wastewater Testing to Resume in Mid-January:  The University of Maine System Scientific Advisory Board conducted its final fall semester analysis of wastewater samples for the presence of the virus that causes COVID-19 at UMaine, UMFK, and USM-Gorham the week of November 16.  Those results were all negative.  Sampling will resume in January.
