Together for Maine Daily Briefing and Data Update: 9/9/20

University of Maine System COVID Data by Campus

7 — Known Cases of UMS students or employees in ME CDC Isolation

  • 4 UMaine:  2 students released from isolation
  • 1 UMFK:
  • 2 USM:

There are no known cases at the other University of Maine System universities.

The above Data reflects ACTIVE known cases identified through the UMS asymptomatic screening and other testing venues.  When an individual is released from an isolation order by the Maine CDC the active case number shared in the Together for Maine daily update is reduced to reflect that change.  UMS is reporting 7 known cases today, 2 fewer than the number reported in the  9/8/20 update.

Asymptomatic Screening Update for Fall Safe Return

  • 14,196 Tests Results to Date
  • 13 positives results representing new diagnoses of COVID-19
  • 1 positive result of a previously diagnosed individual, see UMS news item below

The Asymptomatic Screening Dashboard posted at Together.Maine.edu is under redesign to integrate data from new testing partners.  We will continue to provide daily updates of our asymptomatic screening data as part of this daily briefing.  Data presented here represents known results on all asymptomatic tests going back to July 22, 2020.

About 48 hours passes from the time a test sample is collected and when the results are known.

UMS News

An individual previously diagnosed with COVID-19 was recently tested as part of the University’s screening effort after the individual had been released from public health authority isolation.  It is not the general practice of the UMS Asymptomatic Screening Strategy to knowingly test previously diagnosed individuals for up to three months. This is in keeping with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance that suggests individuals can continue to test positive for up to three months after diagnosis and not be infectious to others.  This footnote is intended to explain why 1 positive test being reported today is treated differently in the summary of asymptomatic screening results.
