Think opportunity

At Maine’s public universities, $400 million is annually invested to provide Maine students with access to a world-class education and boundless opportunities across our seven campuses. With 280 accredited degree programs, our focus is on setting our students up for success in the real world. Outside the classroom, our statewide university service mission and activities create connections that encourage students to lead, explore, and perform.

Think affordability

Financial support in your first year of college can be critical. Twenty-one million dollars in grants and scholarships are awarded to first-year Maine public university students to help pay for college and nearly every student who applies for financial aid is eligible. Gift aid awards to first-year Maine applicants averaged $7,800 per student last year—enough to cover 85% of the average tuition and fee charges at our universities.

Think local

First-year Maine public university students borrow about $4,000 less in their initial year of college than peers who attend private or out-of-state institutions that enroll significant numbers of Maine high school graduates. Valuing affordability reduces debt for students and their families.
