DESCRIPTION:This is a forum following the March 12 Justice for Women Lecture. The Justice For Women Lecture Series brings a distinguished speaker to Maine annually to present a public lecture and to contribute to a global conversation about justice for women and girls in the developing world. Maine Law established the Lecture Series in 2011 with the generous support and leadership of Catherine Lee of Lee International. The Justice For Women Lecture is held every spring. \nPast speakers have included: Hon. Unity Dow\, Botswana; Nobel Peace Laureate Leymah Gbowee\, Liberia; Ruchira Gupta\, India; Dr. Lindiwe Sibanda\, Zimbabwe; Zainah Anwar\, Malaysia; Mariam Jalabi\, Syria; and Maria Luisa Aguilar Rodriguez\, Mexico.

The Freelancers’ Roundtable series brings together freelancers and small business owners\, from students to long-established practitioners\, for learning\, conversation\, and community. The March 2026 Freelancers Roundtable Topic will be focused on legal issues pertinent to freelancers\, including contracts\, trademarks\, and small business entity formation. Local attorneys\, as well the Maine Center’s own Business and Law Clinic directors\, will be featured as speakers.

DESCRIPTION:Each spring\, the Maine Association for Public Interest Law (MAPIL) hosts an auction to raise funds to sponsor MAPIL fellowships. The 38th Annual MAPIL auction will held on March 26\, 2026. This year’s auction programming will also included the granting of the MAPIL Award for Public Service. \nIn addition to the silent and live auction\, MAPIL held an online auction. \nMAPIL welcomes donations from community members and local businesses to support our annual auction. Individuals and businesses interested in donating for next year can contact the MAPIL board members at mapilauction@maine.edu.
