Peek #5. A Peek at Training
The Project Enterprise Training Team consists of Robin Sherman, Eloise Kleban, and Aaron Barnes.
This team has prepared training materials and is conducting training sessions in Vendor Creation and Maintenance, Accelerated Requisitions and Receiving, Accounts Payable I and II, Campus Accounting, Journal Entry Using Excel, Online Journal Entry and Approval, Expenses Administration, Campus Administration, and GL Inquiry. Whew!
Clearly, it is impossible for three people to teach all of the end-users at all University of Maine System campuses. Thus, each university has its own team, trained by the Project Enterprise trainers. The Training and Communications Coordinator at your campus leads your campus training team. These folks are responsible for seeing that everyone who needs to be trained at your campus receives appropriate instruction (see below).
It's a big job, and many class sessions must be scheduled. The ultimate goal, of course, is that you are trained as closely as possible to the actual time you will begin using PeopleSoft®'s new Financial Management system. However, with nearly 2,000 employees to be trained in some facet of the system, it is not possible to train everyone at the last minute. Some of you have probably already attended training session(s) well before the go-live date.
In your training classes, the instructors will stress that what you see today
may not look exactly like the screens you will see on the day of go-live. Please understand that until go-live, the system is still a work in progress. The technical team continues to fine-tune the software, correcting any unanticipated problems and responding to questions that arise as more users begin to the practice in the Sandbox (see Peek #4).
Bottom line: we all need to be flexible and patient as we anticipate go-live of Financial Management on July 5.
