Mainframe Shutdown: Update for Student Financials, Student Records, Financial Aid, Admissions, Financials, and Human Resources
Everyone who is or has been a mainframe user needs to mark November 1 on the calendar. (You are or have been a mainframe user if you’ve ever used ISIS, CICS, HRIS, Financier, or Natural, or if you have connected using Hummingbird software or tn3270.) All users of the mainframe should be off by November 1 (except Financial Aid offices, which have additional time).
If you or colleagues have used the mainframe in the past to maintain data sets or statistical programs for research purposes, make sure you are aware of this timeline, and that your data, programs, tapes, or disks are off and converted into a usable format by November 1.
Shutdown Timeline
On October 19, 2009, messages will appear at logon to CMS, CICS, and WebDSIS announcing that ISIS services (including WebDSIS, CICS, and VSE Batch) will be taken down or will be generally unavailable on November 1.
By November 1, 2009, the interface between Mas90 and MaineStreet GL will be ready.
On November 1, 2009, WebDSIS will be taken down. CICS ISIS (CICS1) and VSE batch ISIS libraries will be generally unavailable. Permission may be granted to select campus users to access CICS on a case-by-case basis. Emergency runs of ISIS batch programs may be possible with intervention of ITS staff. HRIS will remain in read-only mode until December 31. WebFAST is unaffected by the mainframe shutdown, and data from 2000-2005 will continue to be available.
Until mid-December 2009, Natural access to all ISIS and Financier data will remain available.
On December 31, 2009, the mainframe will be turned off and all mainframe services cease.
