The ITS Project Management Office (PMO) was established in July 2012 as an organization within the University of Maine System's Department of Information Technology Services. The PMO provides project management services for projects that support the strategic goals of the University of Maine System and its campuses. By applying proven project management principles and methodology across all IT acitivities, the PMO ensures project teams deliver projects on time, on budget, and to satisfied customers. To accomplish these goals we:
Monitor projects from the initial request forms (PIFs) to project prioritization and completion.
Ensure the UMS community is kept informed of technology projects through a project portfolio management system and other communication channels.
The PMO is a work in progress and is currently supporting a variety of initiatives and projects. Our experiences on these projects will help us gather input about and refine our project management framework and methodologies.
NEXT STEPS
The Project Management Office is working towards building an IT Project Portfolio Management system that will
ensure all technology initiatives are reviewed and prioritized in a consistent and transparent manner.
