Schedule Reduction Opportunities
_________________________________
Voluntary Schedule Reduction
The Voluntary Schedule Reduction is available to UMPSA , COLT, Police, Service and Maintenance and non-represented employees. When it is mutually beneficial to the University and an employee, a full-time regular employee with continuous service equaling five full-time equivalent years may request a reduction in schedule. Employees retain their health and dental insurance at the same premium rate as full-time regular employees. TIAA-CREF contributions, leave accruals and life and disability insurances are pro-rated based on the employee’s reduced salary. The schedule reduction shall be to no less than one-half time. The reductions will normally be for an indefinite duration, and there will be no right to return to full-time status. However, if the employee and the University agree at the time the reduction occurs, it may be for a specified period with a return to full-time regular status guaranteed at its conclusion. The employee will continue to accrue disability and vacation leave (where applicable) and retain eligibility for insurance and retirement benefits as if they remained on a full-time status.
