Stay Informed CIGNA Open Access Plus (OAP) Health Insurance Plans

CIGNA has been selected as UMS’s new Health Plan Administrator effective January 1, 2012. (For medical claims/services prior to January 1, 2012, visit Anthem website)

We are confident that the shift to CIGNA will result in continued excellent service to employees. CIGNA currently administers the UMS Employee Assistance Program (except at the University of Maine), the Dental Plan, and the Voluntary Vision Plan.

The University of Maine System offers medical plans that cover a wide range of services, from hospitalization to doctor’s office visits, from prescription drugs to surgery. Whichever medical plan selected, employees can be sure that it is there to protect them from financially burdensome medical bills. All plans are insured with Cigna.

UMS medical plans administered by Cigna offer:

The health plans, 1) Standard or 2) Quality Incentive, to which you are eligible for are based on your collective bargaining status. Click on the plan name for more information about each set of health plans:

  1. CIGNA OAP Standard Plans:  AFUM unit members only
  1. CIGNA OAP Quality Incentive Plans: Non-Represented Employees and Police, Service & Maintenance, PATFA, UMPSA and ACSUM (COLT) unit members Only
