Q. Was there be a web broadcast or polycom for employees unable to attend in person?

A. If you weren’t able to attend a campus session, you can view a recorded session at your convenience. Point your browser to:

Q. Are the new CIGNA health plan(s) equivalent to the old Anthem plans?

A. Yes

Q.  Do I need to do anything to remain enrolled in the medical plan for 2012?

A.  Yes, during the annual Open Enrollment period, you must go to https://mainestreet.maine.edu > Employee Self-Service > Benefits > Benefits Enrollment. Click the Select button and then click Change next to the Medical option.  You must then choose one of the new CIGNA plans mentioned above and select your dependents you want to enroll.  You must also enter the CIGNA Primary Care Physician ID (PCP ID) for yourself and all of your covered dependents.  You can find a PCP and their ID in by visiting www.cigna.com.  You can also call Cigna's pre-enrollment line 1.800.564.7642.

 

Q.  When is the Open Enrollment period for 2012?

A. October 24, 2011 through November 18, 2011

 

Q. How can I find out if my current medical provider is in the CIGNA network?

A.  Visit the CIGNA website at http://www.cigna.com or call Cigna's pre-enrollment line 1.800.564.7642.

 

Q. Where do I find my CIGNA Primary Care Physcian ID number?

A.  Visit the CIGNA website at http://www.cigna.com, contact your provider or call Cigna's pre-enrollment line 1.800.564.7642.

 

Q.  What if my primary care physician is not in CIGNA's network?

A.  CIGNA is continuing its efforts in recruiting providers to participate in their network.

 

Q:  When will this change to CIGNA be effective?

A:  January 1, 2012

 

Q:  How will the CIGNA plan compare with the Anthem plan re deductibles, co-insurance (percentage amounts), co-pay (dollar amounts), and prescription co-pays?

A:  The CIGNA plan is designed to match as closely as possible the same coverage, co-insurance, co-pay and prescription co-pays.  There will be a managed care plan, similar to the current POS plan and a traditional indemnity plan, similar to the current CompCare plan.

 

Q:  Can I continue to use my same doctor?

A:  Yes, provided your doctor is in the CIGNA network.  You can check to see if your doctor is in the CIGNA network by visiting the CIGNA website at http://www.cigna.com, contacting your provider or contacting Cigna at 1.800.244.6224.

 

Q:  What if I or a family member has a pre-existing medical condition – can we be denied coverage?

A:  No, the University’s plans do not currently have any pre-existing restrictions to be eligible for health coverage and that will continue.

 

Q:  Can I continue to cover the same eligible dependents as now?

A:  Yes, eligible dependents, including domestic partners, will continue to be eligible for health coverage.
