Academics

The University of Maine at Machias offers a wide range of academic opportunities. All of our programs are rooted in environmentally aware and community-centered inquiry – an approach as unique as the Downeast coast of Maine.  Students from across the country, and world, are attracted to UMM’s acclaimed programs in Marine Biology, English and Book Arts, Environmental Recreation and Tourism Management, and the sciences.  We also offer strong programs in Education, Business and Entrepreneurial Studies, and Psychology and Community Studies.

Campus Life

UMM students are very involved on campus and within the Machias community. The University offers a wide ranging number of clubs and organizations including the Ukulele Club, Dead Poets Society (Araby Club), fraternities and sororities, and the Outing Club to name a few.

Plus, the University offers intercollegiate athletics programs in men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, soccer, golf, and women’s volleyball. We compete in the NAIA within the Sunrise Conference.
