UC Centers to Host Workplace Skills Courses


University College centers will offer four short courses from the University of Southern Maine designed to sharpen employee workplace skills and promote worksite wellness. Taught by experienced instructors via videoconference, the short, non-credit courses begin in March and April, 2008.

University College will host three courses from USM’s Center for Continuing Education. These include:

• The Perils of E-mail Communication – March 5, 9:00 - Noon
• Meeting the Challenge of Supervision – April 9 and 16, 9:00 am – Noon
• Delivering Excellent Customer Service – April 30 and May 7, 9:00 am – Noon

Instructor Nancy Ansheles, M.Ed., provides programs for businesses and organizations across Maine and has more than 20 years experience in management, marketing, and corporate education. For more information about these courses or to register, please visit www.usm.maine.edu/cce.

USM’s Lifeline Center for Wellness and Health Promotion will offer a six-week certificate course in the fundamentals for worksite wellness. Designed for professionals interested in developing successful worksite wellness programs, this course will run on Wednesdays from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, from March 5 through April 16. The instructor, Dean Paterson, is recognized as one of Maine’s leading experts in the field of wellness and worksite health promotion.
